112th US Senate Partisan Chart

The 112th Senate convened inWashington, D.C. on January 3, 2011, and will end on January 3, 2013, close to the end of the presidential term to which Barack Obama was elected in 2008.  Democrats maintained a majority with 51 Senators and two Independents who caucus with the Democrats.  Republicans held on to 47 seats.  Senator John Ensign (R) of Nevada resigned on May 3, 211 following an ethical scandal and was replaced by Senator Dean Heller on May 9, 2011.
