NOW/PAC Endorses Susan Bysiewicz for US Senate in Connecticut
October 27, 2011
The National Organization of Women Political Action Committee (NOW/PAC) has endorsed Susan Bysiewicz in her bid for the U.S. Senate. Bysiewicz supports all of NOWs issues taking action to improve women’s lives. As Secretary of the State she created the “Safe @ Home” program to protect survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by keeping their addresses private. She has helped many women-owned businesses with networking opportunities and seminars. She has also worked to help encourage women to run for office and to support their efforts when they do so.
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of NOW/PAC and their recognition of my work to bring more equality to women in their home, at the workplace, and in public life,” said Bysiewicz. “I look forward to working with them to win the primary in August,” she continued.
In the state legislature, Bysiewicz served on the Judiciary Committee, voting against every anti-choice bill, including parental consent and limiting access to clinics. Her strong pro-choice stand continued as secretary of state, when she demanded that Catholic hospitals provide Plan B emergency contraception.
NOW/PAC was established in order to support feminist candidates for state and local office and to advocate for or against ballot measures that affect women’s rights.
