Senator Menendez welcomes USOC decision
U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) welcomes the decision of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to produce the ceremonial uniforms for the U.S. Olympic Team in the United States beginning with the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
“I welcome the decision of the United States Olympic Committee to produce future uniforms for Team USA, starting with the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, in the United States,” said Menendez. “The decision recognizes the pride Americans have in the U.S. Olympic team as representatives of our nation and the representative role that our atheletes play on behalf of our entire nation. This decision will also support American manufacturing jobs, such as the employees of Individualized Shirts in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Having addressed this issue, I very much looking forward to cheering the atheletes of Team USA to victory in London.”
Senator Menendez earlier announced the introduction of legisaltion that would require the USOC to adopt a procurement policy requiring ceremonial uniforms for U.S. Olympians be sewn or assembled in the United States with fabrics formed and cut in the United States or components knit to shape from yarns wholly formed in the United States.
