US Senate candidate unveils jobs plan

The Associated Press

The Republican running for U.S. Senate in New Jersey released his jobs recovery plan Thursday that includes holding the line on federal spending and greater investment in worker training.

State Sen. Joe Kyrillos says rewriting the federal tax code and enacting a balanced budget amendment will help restore the nation’s economy. Kyrillos’ plan also calls for corporate business tax cuts and raising the retirement age to 68 by 2050.

Kyrillos, of Monmouth County, is challenging incumbent Democrat Robert Menendez.

A Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press poll released Thursday has Menendez leading Kyrillos by 10 points among registered voters and by 9 points among likely voters.

However, the poll shows about one in five voters are still undecided about the November contest.
