CUMBERLAND, R.I. (AP) — Sen. Sheldon Whithouse is touring a Cumberland textile manufacturer to discuss the needs of small businesses.
The visit to Hope Global on Thursday is the latest stop on Whitehouse’s tour of the state’s businesses, which he is visiting to hear about their needs in the tough economy.
Whitehouse, a Democrat, is running for a second term against Republican businessman Barry Hinckley, who he will face in the November election.
Hope Global makes products such as straps for automotive companies and shoelaces for the military.
It is also a member of a working group Whitehouse established that works to foster collaboration and provide support for textile companies throughout the state.
